Rhythm Heaven

Nintendo DS

As the first introduction to the Rhythm Heaven Series in the US, this game makes itself clear that it is no ordinary rhythm game. It relys more on audio cues rather than the standard visual cues of many other other rhythm games, while still making the minigames it presents engaging.

As a follow up to the Original GBA game, (Only Released in Japan) it does well to adapt to the newly introduced touch-screen on the DS, and still add unique controls for each mini-game. In addition, keeping some of the original Mini-games from the GBA game (I.E. Karate Man, Lai Giri) as both mainline Mini-games and unlockable endless Mini-games is an excellent choice from the developers.

As for the Mini-games; Many of the new Mini-game are unique both look-wise and gameplay-wise. As a person whom enjoys these more simple rhythm games rather than the more complex and "hard-to-master" game, its a nice touch that all of these Mini-games can be played by virtually anyone, skilled or not.

Final Verdict:

As the second game in the series, (and first in the US) it's a great starting point for anyone attempting to get into the Rhythm Heaven Series, or rhythm games in general.
